Graduate student choreographers Heather Coker and Sarah Wilbur combine popular and unpopular movement vocabularies, conventional images of the female body in motion, live theatrical performance, dance film, and fragmented narratives to find the "truths" that are hidden and revealed by dancing.
WACSMASH! is a showcase of dance, film, spoken word and other artistic work created and produced by undergraduate students in the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance and is associated with the World Arts and Cultures Undergraduate Society (WACUS).
An evening of immersive dance theater reimagining memory, family histories and what comes after loss. Graduate students drive the ordinary dance experience into new territory by engaging with theater, film, music, photography and live sound.
Students and faculty explore the creative potential of intercultural communication through choreography, dance, spoken word, performance, visual art, theater and more.
Literally "end of work" in Hawaiian, "Pau Hana" is an opportunity to see and show what has been happening in UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance classes each quarter.
