The program features Weber’s "Overture to Oberon"; Berlioz’s orchestral music from "Roméo et Juliette," Op.17; Tchaikovsky’s "Romeo and Juliet: Overture-Fantasie"; and Chihara’s Suite from "The Tempest" (1980).

(This concert is part of "Shakespeare + Opera: Found in Translation?", a conference sponsored by the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.)

Our brave Americans — on land, sea and in the air — are the true stars of this soulful tribute to our Armed Forces. We honor the courage of our service men and women and celebrate the American spirit with music by John Philip Sousa, Leonard Bernstein, Morton Gould and John Williams. It’s a tribute filled with flag-waving fun!

Celebrate the life and career of influential performer, composer, bandleader and producer Kenny Burrell. This one-night-only all-star event features tribute performances by blues legend B.B. King, multi-Grammy-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater and pianist Lalo Schifrin, as well as the UCLA Philharmonia (conducted by Neal Stulberg), and new compositions by UCLA faculty composers Roger Bourland, Paul Chihara and Charley Harrison.

Musicians will perform "Mozart á Deux: The Sonatas for Violin and Piano, Part 1" in the first of a three-part series of recitals. (The other recitals will take place Jan. 30 and May 14, 2012.)

The UCLA Symphony will perform works including Mozart’s Overture to "Die Zauberflöte," K. 620; Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22; and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88.
