Senate to hear reports Thursday on School of Medicine, emeriti professors

The speakers scheduled to address the senate are Philip A. Pizzo, dean of the School of Medicine, and David B. Abernethy, chair of the Stanford Emeriti Council.


During the last meeting of the academic year on Thursday, the Faculty Senate will hear a report from Philip A. Pizzo , MD, dean of the Stanford School of Medicine.

The senate also will hear a report from David B. Abernethy , professor of political science, emeritus, and chair of the Stanford Emeriti Council. The council meets quarterly to address the interests and concerns of the several hundred emeriti and spouses living on campus and in surrounding areas.

Following adjournment, President John Hennessy, who recently completed a brief sabbatical , will host a reception for the 44th (current) senate, new members of the 45th Senate, the chairs of the committees of the Academic Council, the Emeriti Council and the university’s Board of Trustees. The reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Faculty Club.

The senate meeting will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Room 180 of the Law School.
