Penn Center for High Impact Philanthropy and Wharton Will Host ’Saving Philanthropy’ Screening
PHILADELPHIA --The documentary "Saving Philanthropy" will be shown on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., in 1206 Steinberg Dietrich-Hall, 3620 Locust Walk, on the University of Pennsylvania campus. The event is hosted by the Center for High Impact Philanthropy , the School of Social Policy & Practice , the Wharton Program for Social Impact and the Wharton Leadership Program.
This showing will preview the PBS airing starting in December and will feature an interactive panel focusing on the role and struggle of modern philanthropy in addressing the globe’s most pressing challenges. "Saving Philanthropy" includes a discussion with Katherina Rosqueta , executive director of Penn’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy , along with others in the non-profit sector.
"This documentary explores the challenge of linking donor funds to social impact - being able to make meaningful changes in people’s lives," Rosqueta said. "It is the central challenge of philanthropy and the reason our center exists."
The documentary profiles diverse social-service organizations that have gained national attention for the measurable outcomes they achieve, and it highlights the role that forward-thinking funders play in the process.
This event is open to the public, but registration is required at http://eventbrite.com/event/2349902622 .
