Logan Center hosts Community Open House on April 21

Bill Michel, executive director of the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, leads guests during the April 21 community open house.

The preview period for the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts began March 26 and will lead up to its grand opening celebration on Oct. 11, 2012.

The Royal Voices of Life Choir form the Life Center Church of God in Christ open welcome ceremonies of the community open house at the Logan Center.

Bill Michel shows guests the shop used by students in the Department of Visual Arts and Theater and Performance Studies.

Willie Cochran, 20th Ward alderman, hosted the open house along with the Logan Center, Arts and Public Life and UChicago's Office of Civic Engagement.

The Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago opened its doors to the community for the first time with an April 21 open house. The event featured building tours and family-friendly events as well as music throughout the new space.

As part of an extended preview, the Logan Center will host a number of public performances, exhibitions, classes and other events during the next six months. The Logan will celebrate its official grand opening on Oct. 11, 2012.
