Geoffrey Coates, Cornell’s Tisch University Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, won the DSM Performance Materials Award June 25 for "his exceptional contributions to the advancement of the materials sciences." Royal DSM is a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials.

Coates wins international chemistry award
The award, given every two years, carries a cash prize of 50,000 euros and was presented at the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry’s World Polymer Congress. Coates delivered an award lecture, "New Polymers from Old Monomers: Advances Enabled Through Catalyst Design and Discovery."
On June 18 Coates won a Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the American Chemical Society.
