The Department of Health Services at the University of Washington seeks to fill 3 full-time (100% FTE) faculty positions at the Associate Professor or Professor level, either with tenure or without tenure by reason of funding (WOT). A Ph.D. in Health Economics, Health Services Research, Health Policy, or a related field is required. The ideal applicants will have a strong research track record in health economics with applications to a variety of public health and medical care issues. This should include a successful grant track record as leader or principal investigator of significant research projects. The applicant should have demonstrated experience teaching in an area relevant to health economics research and to general health economics issues. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and to participate in the teaching and service missions of the Department of Health Services. Depending on the interests and qualifications of the successful candidate(s) a joint or adjunct appointment may be considered with other UW departments or affiliate institutions.
Successful candidates will find a diverse department (44 faculty, 11 research faculty, 225 Adjunct, Affiliate and Clinical faculty) with national expertise in organization and financing of medical care, health disparities and community-based participatory research, and quality of life and outcomes research http://depts.washington.edu/hserv/ . In addition, the collaborative opportunities at the UW (Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Policy Program, Surgical Care and Outcomes and Assessment Program of the School of Medicine, the Institute of Translational Health Science – the UW CTSA) and in the Seattle area (Seattle Children’s Hospital, a national Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence at the VA, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Group Health Research Institute) are unparalleled. The successful candidate would be expected to develop close collaborations with this community soon after arriving to the Department.
