Duties & Responsibilities:
Harvard University IT is seeking a highly skilled manager of the release management group and a release manager for a subset of applications.
The key responsibilities include the following:
Managing the Release Management Team Leading a small, team of release managers who work independently to manage the releases for major enterprise applications.
Building positive working relationships with direct reports, practice managers, product managers, application owners, and infrastructure groups including Data Base Administration, System Administration, and Security
Providing Thought Leadership for Application Release and Change Management In collaboration with the ITSM team, sets the strategic direction for release and change management for ATS by developing new approaches for release management across the portfolio of applications.
Partnering with ITSM team as they develop and rollout new Change Management processes for HUIT to ensure policies and processes align with application owner goals as well as IT controls.
Establishing policies, standards and guidelines for release management that support the delivery of robust, stable and secure applications running on current versions of software components to the business community for a portfolio of over 100 applications of varying size and technology.
Demonstrating awareness of business priorities and objectives and of the role that Information Technology plays in enabling business objectives to be met.
Perform Release Management Activities for Applications A release manager provides services for two to four applications depending on the size, complexity and maturity of an application. Release management responsibilities for an application include the following:
Manages the process for deploying changes to an application and its infrastructure in production in collaboration with its practice manager, product manager, and Server Operations Center (SOC) staff and within the requirements of IT Controls:
Facilitates the assessment of risk to production for an application and among highly integrated applications and operations to ensure the integrity of production systems.
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:
Experience in risk analysis and mitigation management, change control, resource allocation, testing methodologies, communication strategies and budgeting;
Excellent business analysis and communications skills, both oral and written. Must be able to write clearly and concisely with the appropriate level of detail and grammatical correctness and produce visually effective documentation.
