Description: ARCHNET DIGITAL LIBRARY CONTENT MANAGER, MIT Libraries, to mange aspects of the Archnet ( Archinet.org ) digital library. Will participate in building the collection by identifying, evaluating, and acquiring images, digital resources, and historic photographs and archiving original material and derivatives to the site; edit, catalog, create metadata, and upload materials; acquire and manage copyright permissions; prioritize and coordinate digital projects; and support digital scholarship by working closely with colleagues at MIT, Aga Khan Trust for Culture, and the Aga Khan Program in Islamic Architecture Documentation Center at Harvard.

Experience: REQUIREMENTS: advanced degree in history of art and architecture related to study of the Islamic world; an MLS; research, writing, and/or copy-editing experience; familiarity with architectural description and/or editing or curatorial experience; reading knowledge of one Middle Eastern language; expertise in image metadata standards and online data creation and access; computer skills including facility with databases and digital image file management; excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work within a diverse community; strong organizational skills; ability to manage projects and competing priorities, adapt to change, and work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; flexibility; and ability to work collaboratively and across organizational boundaries. Working knowledge of western European languages, the contemporary field of Islamic art and architecture historical study and its constituents, and of archival collections projects related to the visual culture and history of the Middle East are highly desirable. Ability to write, research, and communicate in multiple languages; experience working with an online professional/academic community; and two years’ related professional library experience also desired. Salary: $51,000 minimum with actual salary dependent upon qualifications and experience
