University of California, Berkeley College of Engineering- Engineering Research Support Organization
Postdoctoral Scholar Employee
Annual Salary: $40,000 depending on qualifications and years of experience, post degree.
Description of the research group: This group performs innovative research in semiconductor devices with potential for large impact. Active projects include low-power MOSFET alternatives including the tunneling transistor,MEMS switch, negative-capacitance transistor, nanowire and carbon-nanotube devices, spintronics, memory devices, energy conversion devices, multigate MOSFET such as FinFET, and BSIM series of compact models for IC simulation. Motivation
III-V tunnel transistors may be able to reduce future IC consumption by order of magnitude-a necessary condition for the electronics technology and industry to continue to thrive for the long term. The postdoctoral scholar will develop this revolutionary transistor.
Duties include:
The postdoctoral scholar will design, fabricate, and characterize III-V tunnel transistor. Material growth is outsourced and the postdoctoral scholars experimental effort will focus on device fabrication from optical and e-beam lithography to III-V material etching and contacting. Design the device from sound understanding of heterojunction carrier transport.
Qualifications
Positions are 1-year term appointments with renewal up to total of 3 years with satisfactory performance. Salary for post-doctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree.
