Position Description:

Harvard University. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures seeks to make a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment in Lusophone literary and cultural studies, with a primary emphasis on Portugal. Written and spoken fluency in both Portuguese and English is essential, and knowledge of Spanish, Creole, and/or an indigenous or African language is highly desirable. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2012. Candidates are required to have a PhD or an equivalent terminal degree by the start of the appointment. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate an active record of research, publication, and administration as well as excellence in teaching and program building; all applicants should have at least three to four years of teaching experience in a full-time teaching position. Teaching duties include four courses a year at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as advising undergraduate and graduate theses.
