VACANCY NUMBER: M-3100

DESCRIPTION: Within the Laboratory for Accelerated Vascular Research, the successful candidate will participate in ongoing research into vascular development and disease. Specific duties include supporting the effort of the laboratory director to manage the state-of-the-art facility; small animal surgical procedures and maintenance of the mouse colony; performing in vitro cell culture; histopathologic analyses; cellular and molecular biology techniques; maintaining the lab equipment, supplies, and reagents; training new personnel in techniques and safety issues; keeping financial and experimental records; keeping proper lab notebooks and records; and complying with lab safety and good lab practices. There will be ample opportunity to pursue an independent research project.

REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS in biological science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; outstanding bench technique, organizational skills, and follow-through; meticulous, highly organized, responsible and driven; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask, work independently while support a group effort, and take initiative in solving problems; attention to detail; and demonstrated excellent record of attendance and punctuality.

Candidates with an advance degree, including a PhD, are encouraged to apply. Experience with animal work, animal surgery, and basic molecular biology techniques is a plus but not required.
