Faculty Position in Theoretical Astrophysics or Relativity
The Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for a possible tenure-track professorial position in theoretical or computational astrophysics, relativity or cosmology. We are primarily interested in candidates for tenure-track appointments, but will also consider applications for tenured positions as well. We are seeking highly qualified candidates committed to a career in research and teaching.
We are considering applications in all areas of theoretical and computational astrophysics, relativity and astrophysical cosmology. Fields of interest include, but are not limited to: high-energy astrophysics, numerical and analytical relativity, compact objects, accretion, stellar formation, evolution and explosions, dynamics, galaxy and AGN formation and coevolution. An exceptional array of observational facilities are headquartered at Caltech, and value interactions with theorists: LIGO Lab, Keck and Palomar Observatories, Spitzer Science Center, IPAC, the NASA Exoplanet Science Institute, CARMA and OVRO, GALEX, NuSTAR, Caltech Submillimeter Observatory, Thirty Meter Telescope project.
Please apply online at http://www.pma.caltech.edu/physics-search , selecting the "Astrophysics (theoretical and computational including relativity)" button for research interests.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of papers published and submitted (with refereed papers indicated), and a brief essay describing the applicant’s research interests and the program of research he/she proposes to carry out at Caltech. Applicants should also have at least three letters of reference uploaded to http://www.pma.caltech.edu/physics-search/ref ; the names and email addresses of the referees should be included in the application.
