Summary Description: Art Historian, Columbia University, Open-Rank. Islamic Art and Architecture Columbia University Department of Art History and Archaeology We invite applications for a faculty position in the field of Islamic Art and Architecture. All sub-specializations of Islamic Art and Architecture are welcome. The position may be filled at any rank from tenure-track assistant professor to full professor with tenure. The selectee will be nominated to hold the Riggio Professorship of Art History at the appropriate rank. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an active research and publication agenda and to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Candidate must have Ph.D by commencement of appointment. Screening begins December 15, 2011 and continues until the position is filled. Minimum Qualifications: Specialization in Islamic Art and Architecture. All candidates must have excellent scholarship and excellent promise for future development as scholars and teachers. Candidates for a tenured position should also have strong publishing and teaching records. Candidates for the rank of full professor should be widely recognized for their distinction and professional accomplishment. Candidates for associate professor should possess a demonstrated record of professional achievement and show great promise of attaining distinction in their fields of specialization. Candidates for assistant professor should have completed successful graduate training and be starting a career of independent professional accomplishment. Preferred Qualifications: As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Council of Ivy Group Presidents (Ivy League), it is imperative that members of the Columbia University community, in all matters related to the intercollegiate athletics program, exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations.
