Associate/Full Professor Urban Affairs and Policy Analysis School of Public and Environmental Affairs Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis The Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at the Indianapolis campus seeks to fill a position in urban affairs and policy analysis beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year. Candidates should have demonstrated substantive interests and knowledge in some combination of the following areas: urban and regional analysis, state and local governance, public safety, criminal justice, or homeland security. Disciplinary background is open. The ideal candidate will have rigorous quantitative and other methodological training, especially in the use and development of federal, state, local and other data sources for geographic information systems, statistics/research methodology, and policy analysis in any of the substantive areas above. The successful candidate will teach in SPEA’s graduate and undergraduate programs in public affairs and public safety, consistent with his or her expertise. Appointment will be made at the rank of associate or full professor, depending on the candidate’s experience and record. The successful applicant must have a PhD in an appropriate discipline, a demonstrated record of conducting applied research in a multi-disciplinary environment, including collaborative research with community organizations and government agencies, and a record of communicating the results of such research to a variety of professional, practitioner, and academic audiences. An appointment with tenure will require review by the School and Campus promotion and tenure committees. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty and staff in the Indiana University Public Policy Institute (PPI), housed within SPEA. PPI includes two research centers active in applied projects with state and local governments, agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations. The successful candidate will be expected to assume a significant leadership role in PPI’s Center for Urban Policy and the Environment, and to collaborate with PPI’s Center for Criminal Justice Research.
