Job Description:

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. This position will involve the development of research projects, conducting research, data acquisition and analysis, writing proposals, guiding graduate students as they undertake their research, development of experimental facilities and measurement capabilities, writing journal and conference papers, and other tasks related to research programs underway and under development in the Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology. The primary activities will involve experimental research, which includes measurements of flow and heat transfer phenomena, using a variety of techniques, including hot-wire anemometry, particle image velocimetry, pressure probes and tappings, flow measurement devices, infrared thermography, energy balance techniques, thermocouples, and other approaches. Also, related work will be undertaken to analyze data from related experiments, including the development of data acquisition and data processing software. Another requirement will be numerical predictions of phenomena which are related and complementary to the experimental efforts which are underway. Investigations will be related to a variety of technological problems associated with gas turbines, including aerodynamic losses and characteristics, heat transfer, film cooling, as well as problems associated with micro-fluidics and fractionation and purification using techniques such as SPLITT Fractionation. Good writing and communication skills are required, along with a Ph.D. in the engineering sciences, with the ability to manage and undertake multiple projects simultaneously.
