The University of Washington Department of Family Medicine seeks a 50-100% faculty member to join our Research Section at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.
The primary responsibility of this faculty position, based in the Department’s Rural Health Research Center and/or Center for Health Workforce Studies, is to advance rural health research regionally and nationally. The recognition of the University of Washington as the number one medical school in rural medicine by the U.S. News and World Report is in part a reflection of the long-standing research relevance and productivity of the Department of Family Medicine’s Rural Health Research Center. We seek a faculty researcher (MD or PhD) with excellent core skills in health services research, economics, or social science research, and demonstrated expertise in rural health care delivery, the health of rural populations, or health workforce assessment. The ability to secure external research funding is essential, as is the ability to effectively translate findings to policy makers and other stakeholders. Responsibilities of the position include working closely and collaboratively with Rural Health Research Center and Center for Health Workforce Studies leadership and staff, Research Section faculty, and the Department of Family Medicine to build a strong program of research advancing the strategic missions of the Centers.
Additional responsibilities will include mentoring and training students, residents, fellows, and non-research faculty, and, for clinicians, limited clinical practice and clinical instruction. Appointment will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level (depending on experience and qualifications) in the clinician-scientist or research faculty pathway, with salary appropriate for faculty rank.
