Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Demonstrate potential in scholarship, teaching and research in one of the indicated areas. Strong aptitudes for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an outstanding ability to conduct collaborative externally-funded research. For more senior applicants, an outstanding reputation in the field of specialty is a primary requirement. Candidates for a tenured position will possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.
Principal duties:
Develop, adapt, and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering; supervise graduate student research; develop and direct funded research; participate in faculty governance and public service. Research areas of interest include (but are not limited to) * Solid Mechanics and Mechanical Systems for Micro and Nano Applications * Biomechanics and Biofabrication * Dynamics and Controls * Computer-Aided Engineering and Cyber-Mechanical Systems * Electro- and Thermal-Mechanical Systems * Energy Systems and Combustion Systems
