Puget Sound Blood Center/University of Washington Division of Hematology seeking an MD or equivalent physician who is board certified or eligible in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine as a full time faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position would be Assistant or Associate medical director at Puget Sound Blood Center, serving as the principal liaison for transfusion medicine activities at Harborview Medical Center, a University of Washington hospital housing the region’s only Level I Trauma center. Additional duties involve participation in transfusion medicine teaching and research activities and sharing coverage of various Blood Center clinical programs. Opportunities for the position also include medical direction of the Blood Center’s cell therapy program as well as clinical involvement in the regional hemophilia care program. The Puget Sound Blood Center is the regional blood center serving most of Western Washington and serving as the centralized transfusion service for 19 hospitals in King County. The professional staff comprises ten physicians engaged in clinical and research activities, all of whom are full time faculty members at the University of Washington.
