Director of the Regenstrief Center for Biomedical Informatics Indiana University and Regenstrief Institute, Inc. are seeking a dynamic and proven leader to guide our successful and internationally recognized Regenstrief Center for Biomedical Informatics. A research affiliate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, for 40 years the Regenstrief Institute has been a national leader in electronic health records, health care data integration, clinical decision support, medical informatics standards, and more recently in global and public health informatics and global health. Our mission is to improve quality, efficiency, and outcomes of healthcare locally, nationally and globally and to develop the next generation of national and global leaders in biomedical informatics. Successful candidates must be eligible for at least an Associate Professor level appointment and will occupy the Sam Regenstrief Chair in Medical Informatics. Working with the IU faculty and the CEO of Regenstrief Institute, this individual will recruit at least two new tenured or tenure-track investigators and currently includes 15 investigators, approximately 81 additional research staff, and an annual research budget of more than $15 million. The Regenstrief Institute is located on the IU Medical Center campus in close proximity to its collaborative research partners: Wishard Memorial Hospital, the Roudebush VA Medical Center, IU Health hospitals, and the Indiana Health Information Exchange. The Regenstrief Institute also contains the Regenstrief Biomedical Informatics Fellowship Program, one of 18 funded by the National Library of Medicine, and the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Center for the Design, Application and Research of Medical Information Systems. Qualified Candidates will possess the following Requirements: M.D., D.O., or PhD and training in biomedical informatics through advanced degree programs, fellowship training, or comparable experiences in knowledge management, clinical decision support, translational informatics and relevant informatics standards. A proven and exemplary record of scientific discovery, peer-reviewed publications and extramural grants and contracts including experience as the Principle Investigator of large research projects. A vision for the future of biomedical informatics and the ability to develop and implement a strategic plan to maintain the Regenstrief’s leadership role. Demonstrated exceptional program leadership and management. A proven track record in the development and and mentoring of trainees and junior faculty. The ability to promote effective teamwork in a rapidly changing multidisciplinary research environment. Superior interpersonal and communications skills as demonstrated by excellence in speaking, writing and listening.
