The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Washington (UW) is continuing a multi-year period of growth and renewal. As part of this initiative, applications are being solicited for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in structural engineering and mechanics (SEM). The candidate will be expected to develop new areas of strength for the department, and to collaborate with colleagues within CEE and throughout the university. The department is interested in developing research programs with collaboration between SEM, construction engineering and other programs. Areas with promising potential for research collaboration include but are not limited to: computational methods, data visualization, monitoring and sensor systems, rapid construction, renewal and retrofit, characterization of new materials, and life-cycle design as they relate to civil engineering infrastructure.
UW faculty members engage in teaching, research and service. Candidates at the rank of assistant professor are strongly encouraged, but candidates with an established reputation as a leader in their area of expertise will also be considered at the rank of associate professor. A PhD in civil engineering or related discipline is required.
