has established an endowed, fully funded Research Chair in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry for an initial five year term with the possibility of renewal.
The Chair will be expected to carry out and lead a vigorous program of externally funded research into fundamental questions in spinal cord injury with potential for translational research application. Other responsibilities include teaching in the Faculty of Medicine at the Undergraduate and Graduate level. The successful candidate will have a Medical Degree and/or PhD or equivalent degree and will be expected to qualify for an appointment as Associate Professor or Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the
. Laboratory facilities and start-up packages will be provided.
Applications are invited from basic and clinician-scientist researchers who have a primary interest in, and track record of, innovative and creative research in the area of Spinal Cord Injury. A basic scientist would be expected to collaborate effectively with clinicians and other basic scientists working in the area. A clinician-scientist would be expected to collaborate with other clinical and basic scientists and take part in clinical care of patients, including those with spinal cord injury. Clinicians should be licensable at a specialty level in
. Clinician-scientists will hold a clinical appointment with Alberta Health Services and will be privileged in one or more of the teaching hospitals. Neuroscientists, rehabilitation scientists, clinical scientists and others are encouraged to apply.
The starting date is negotiable as the position is currently vacant. Applicants are asked to submit an up to date curriculum vitae and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted before October 31, 2010; however the competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is hired.
